On 19 September 2021, Heri Kuswanto and his team published the first scientific paper on SRM from Indonesia and from the entire region of Southeast Asia. It investigates how SRM could affect temperatures and humidity over Indonesia.
SRMGI is pleased to announce that six DECIMALS projects will be continuing their research until the end of 2023. The DECIMALS projects started in 2018 and they have already begun to change the face of global SRM research.

In September 2019, SRMGI’s Director, Andy Parker, was invited to present to the panel of the US National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM).
On 11 March 2021, another global milestone for SRM evaluation was reached when the Jamaican DECIMALS team published the first SRM research paper from the Caribbean region. It was also the first paper from a Small Island Developing State.
On 5 March 2021, SRMGI and the Center for Research in Climate Change and Global Warming (CRCC) of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) based in Zanjan co-organised the first participatory workshop on SRM (virtually) held in Iran.
It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Professor Laban Ogallo on 20 November 2020. Laban served as one of the three SRMGI co-chairs from 2017 to 2020 and helped guide the expansion of the initiative in 2018.
