A workshop of about 45 participants, representing 14 different African nations was held in Dakar, Senegal on June 27 (Press Release). Partner organizations included:
- The African Academy of Sciences (AAS),
- the academy of sciences for the developing world (TWAS),
- The Royal Society,
- Environmental Defense Fund, and
- United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The Senegalese National Academy of Science and Technology (ANSTS) hosted the workshop.
